McCain versus McCain

14 Jun 2008 12:21 pm

Once again the king of straight talk can't seem to help but contradict himself constantly:

The whole video runs about 90 seconds, but the first 30 seconds or so are crying out to be made into a TV ad.

One just hopes that Obama does not turn out to be flaccid like Kerry.

I have to think that it's a liability for a candidate, when giving prepared remarks, to sound exactly like Andy Rooney during a semi-senile rant on "60 Minutes". I dare you to listen to the clip of him saying he's not going to be "Bush's third term," and not think you're hearing Andy Rooney.

Doesn't that seem like the kind of thing that turns off everyone who's under the age of, like, 80? Is it a winning strategy to come across as an out-of-touch cranky old neighbor?

Great video. There should be TV spots about this too:

Senators John McCain and Barack Obama released their Senate financial disclosure statements on Friday, revealing that Mr. McCain and his wife had at least $225,000 in credit card debt and that Mr. Obama and his wife had put more than $200,000 into college funds for their daughters.

The McCains apparently can pay 20%+ in interest on $225,000 without breaking a sweat. What kind of elitist credit card has that kind of limit?

If you keep reading, you'll discover McCain and his wife are getting a sweetheart 0% interest rate on that debt.

Don't worry, Paul Lustiak and the rest of the nutballs at Correntewire assure me that Obama is an insane, power-hungry sociopath who will do whatever it takes to win so he can perform a hostile take-over of the Democratic party and enslave the entire nation in a fascist dictatorship!

Great video, Jedreport has done some good inventive videos this year. If memory serves Jedreport did the devastating viral Tuzla youtube too.

but the first 30 seconds or so are crying out to be made into a TV ad.

The ad producers wouldn't want to leave out the last soundbite, in which McCain specifically enumerates all the issues on which he agrees with Bush. It's a long list.

someone should forward this to the dnc

I like how one of those issues is McCain agreeing with Bush on "fiscal discipline" - so I guess basically admitting that his administration wouldn't have any?

Holy cow.

Unless McCain's October surprises includes the ability to fly and producing herds of magic ponies for everyone, he's really headed for a bloodbath.

These things are springing up all over:
