In my Twitter feed -- "the new Girl Talk record is a necessity for modern living"; "the new Girl Talk record is aware of all internet traditions" -- it's downloading as we speak and available for sale on a "pay what you want" basis here. I've been enjoying the newish Ladytron for the past week or so.

So far I still prefer Night Ripper. The first track with the UGK moving into the Weezy/TI/Sinead O'Connor is excellent though, and there are other bright spots. Maybe it will get to Night Ripper level after ten more listens.
IMO, the new Ladytron is just ok. It's no 604 - quite possibly the best Ladytron album from top to bottom.
The new Girl Talk record is real good.
I asked you to comment on Feed the Animals in yesterday's request thread. This post doesn't really count.
This supports a thought I expressed via Twitter a few days back that 100% of the people I know (loosely in this sense) that listen to Girl Talk use Twitter.

Well, there goes the request on how we'll maintain water supplies.
nathan, i listen to girl talk and don't use twitter, but then again, i don't know you.
as for girl talk, i'd say that matthew should be busy listening to the recent steinski reissue before moving on to the second girl talk....
Well, the phrase "aware of internet traditions" makes me aware that this is not just criticism of John McCain, so I'll ask for a post on the etymology of the phrase...
The phrase originates from a not-too-terribly bright right-wing troll on the blog Lawyers, Guns and Money.
The new album is at least the second greatest thing ever (Night Ripper still might be better). The Genre is the future.
Sweet--thanks for the reminder. I'd meant to grab this album and had forgotten.
Listening now.
I also listen to Girl Talk but don't use Twitter.
Damn, that's some weak-assed white boy shit.
I've gotta say that this sounds like a decidedly less clever and less interesting version of Night Ripper. Meh. And neither album holds a candle to the infinitely more original Uneasy Listening by DJ Z-Trip. As far as sampling/mashup albums are concerned, that's still has yet to be rivaled IMO.
If you like a more upbeat dance sound, Soundhog or Party Ben are much more fun.
Obligatory Corrs post.

First, I second the Steinski. That is an utterly essential CD for anyone who likes mashups and megamixes and so on and so forth. The Lessons alone are worth the price of admission.
As for Girl Talk: I admire the frantic cavalcade-of-hooks schtick, and listening to the new record while ticking through the Wikipedia's entries list of samples on my phone has been this week's perfect distraction from the horrors of the NYC rush-hour subway experience. But unlike, say, DJ Shadow or Kid Koala or Steinski's "Nothing To Fear" mix, I can't manage to listen to either Girl Talk record I own from beginning to end without just feeling agitated if not annoyed. Also unlike those records, the majority of my enjoyment of Feed The Animals is the second-order referentialism of his clever juxtapositions, rather than anything coherent (if oblique) he might be trying to say with them. This spells novelty for me, and the essential quality of novelty is that it eventually wears off.

right. is there any point other than "name that sample" ?
and even that is old... i mean, we had "Stars On 45", back in the day.

after all those 90s music posts, I seriously underestimated your taste in music. Now go out and get dancing. If Girl Talk ever goes to DC, be prepared, because it's an unparalleled dance event
