As best anyone can tell, Brian Beutler's post-shooting surgery was a complete success and he's going to be totally fine. Fine, that is, but saddled with medical bills (and, yes, we should have better health care policy in the United States and also fewer criminals roaming the streets shooting people and getting away with it -- consider those points made) for which Spencer Ackerman has set up a BeutlerAid fund in case you're interested in supporting progressive media (who's got the goods on FISA? Brian Beutler!) and humanitarian goodness and helping out.

Yea, could you fix the link for the donation?
Indeed. Also, even though the point was made, how ridiculous is it to have to pay for getting shot? Seriously.
Why isn't anyone following up on the link between the shooting and Beutler's work to expose the FISA Constitution Shredding (tm)?
Where was Scooter Libby when the shooting took place?
Has anyone ever tried suing the government for damages incurred during a crime? Failure to live up to its contractual obligations to its people?

can donate from the above address.
We know you never bother to check anything you post, but perhaps this might actually have been important?
so fucking sloppy even when your friend is shot.
@James, fuck you in half.
My apologies for actually posting the correct link Spencer, if it is actually you.
When you do fuck me in half, I hope you can organise the donation and not Matt.
James,
Maybe you could forgo attempts to score awesome points at this time.
I was actually annoyed that he would be so sloppy, Crack. And I doubt highly that was Spencer posting.
It's three and a half hours since Matt posted the incorrect link - and he's not corrected, yet managed to post three videos, comment on Jesse Helms, and the vital issue of Nadal-Federer.
I did actually post a correct link, and wouldn't post more save for the slates
@James
Look, do you read this blog because Matt Yglesias is the awesomest proofreader in the world? Or do you read it because you enjoy, learn from, agree with, or otherwise appreciate the content?
So fuck you.
and, yes, we should have better health care policy in the United States
Actually, a serious question on my mind is why the progressive media organization that employs Beutler gives him such shitty health care coverage.
maybe if some of your friends were poor you were be concerned with economic justice too
you are a complete tool
It's your insightful comments Joe Strummer which keep me coming back for more.
I have to agree that if Matt can't even check the link for donations to an injured friend, this pretty much reveals his complete disinterest in the blog itself.
I'm beginning to think this blog is really not that interesting or important to him at all. It's just his job and apparently a boring job at that.
He can't be bothered to check his spelling. He can't be bothered to check his grammar (as if he knew how). He can't be bothered to read the comments. He can't be bothered to even ask his bosses to fix the fucking server.
He just can't be bothered. He considers himself to be above that sort of thing. He considers himself to be so much more important than that "mundane shit".
It's called arrogance.
So why should we be bothered to take his blog or his book seriously? Which, if you haven't noticed, I really don't.
Day later, several posts more, a Jesse Helms post specially updated and the link for donation is still broken.
If only we all had friends as diligent as Matt.
If he can't this shit right, you really think he bothers with the other posts?

Link doesn't work. Too bad for Brian I guess.
