What's your girl gonna think about this?

Lame.

Taylor Momsen is just fifteen. But of course you meant just the song's name to be All I want is you...

I don't particularly care for that song, actually. It's really good, I just don't like it.

Why Do You Love Me
Bleed Like Me
Happy Home
Parade
Hammering in My Head

are all much better IMO.

As any halfway-decent Rock Band player can tell you, the title is "I think I'm paranoid".

It occured to me while playing the other day that a large number of the 90s songs in Rock Band are to todays kids what stuff like Devo or A-Ha or Men At Work for the children of the 90s -- a sort of odd, kitschy music from the not-too-distant past. Stuff like Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, Muse, etc. is the new normal. Or maybe the normal stuff is Strokes/Hives/OK Go/Queens of the Stone Age, and the emo stuff is just a lame substitute, the way Creed or Limp Bizkit is to Nirvana.

I don't know, I'm just riffin' on a Friday afternoon.

More disturbing is that Momsen wasn't even born when Smells Like Teen Spirit came out.

I'm a better drummer than Butch Vig

Am I the only one who is confused here?

-What does Garbage have to do with Taylor Momsen??

-I had to use "the google" to find out who she was....and I'm speechless

Me too, dude, and I'm similarly creeped out.

In a previous episode, Matt expressed some confusion regarding Momsen's claim that Garbage was the greatest band ever. The blog entry is, therefore, basically just a joke.

Oh great, another thread for old people to discuss music.

I was a huge Garbage fan back in the day. The first two albums were great, and some of their best stuff were b-sides off the first album's singles - Subhuman, the original mix of #1 Crush, the Pal mix of Dog New Tricks, the Butterfly Collector and Kick My Ass covers - but by the 2nd album's b-sides they were clearly out of ideas, and from there on they were largely indulging Shirley's Chrissie Hynde thing, and honestly, Shirley's no Chrissie Hynde, as singer or songwriter.

Lets talk more about the superfluous panty shots.

So it turns out this girl was in a film called "Paranoid Park" so maybe that's the connection I've been missing.

Who the hell is Taylor Momsen? Should I care?

Matt:

Can you post more fun videos like Ezra instead?

I would like to answer to Nicholas from the point of view of a 1987 Brazilian brat that loves Kinks (think of Death of a Clown), Doors (Crystal Ship), Bauhaus (Bela Lugosi's Dead), Radiohead (Pablo Honey 'til Amnesiac, not In Rainbows), Cat Power, Metric, Microphones, Neutral Milk Hotel, Interpol, Walkmen, etc., etc. (that's the answer, heh.)

So thinking from Sao Paulo, it's fun to see things can be really idiosyncratic.

I'd also say that I really love Debussy & Wagner but then it'd probably be... dilettante? Dunno.

(by the way, I'm also a pretty (paleo)conservative kiddo, in an Eric Voegelin or Mortimer J. Adler way. but wreck, who asked?)

Did I miss the opportunity for an obligatory Corrs post here?

Let's rectify that!
