Looks like the White House accidentally pushed out the story of Maliki endorsing the Obama plan for Iraq to their email distribution list.

Care to entertain a bit of paranoia?
The press release mistake is a Rovian tactic to make Obama look weak after he presumably touts this Maliki statement as an opportunity to withdraw responsibly.
To which the GOP can respond: "See! He's weak! He'll do whatever foreign leaders say!"
We have no idea if it will play in Peoria because, well, we'd never want to go there and see what it's actually like.
I think this shows that I'm right that the conservatives have surreptitiously switched positions on the Iraq war, and are trying to dissolve support among their rank-and-file for staying in Iraq so that conservative politicians can start overtly embracing the idea.
Or, it could be some kind of a red herring, perhaps with a national security rational.
Kind of an odd mistake to make. For a super-ideological Republican (we know one must have put the e-mail together) it seems very unlikely, even for the most bleary-eyed, fatigued sort of mistake- like a Nazi putting "Hitler tripped over his shoelaces today" in a newsletter to party members.

Once upon a time in a galaxy far away Bush said he'd leave when the Iraqis wanted him to...
Not that I believed him then either.
