Since no one seems to want to answer Matt's question, I'll say that no, no Republican is serious about actually doing things that bring tangible economic benefits for average families. "Sam's Club Conservatism" is just another name for "Compassionate Conservatism", i.e. the bait in another elaborate bait-and-switch maneuver that will give the status quo another lease on life.

Maybe 30 years from now Ross will be on MSNBC, in their Mars studio, explaining how the whole idea was just a big ploy - after which the camera will pan back to show the earth, now a grey rather than a blue planet as the oceans cross the boiling point.

Or we could be facing the next ice age, as many of these same cracker jack scientists including Hanson predicted about 30 year ago. The oceans won't boil over a few degrees change; you're looking at some scene out of the Outer Limits.
