Voters: Court's Too Conservative

20 Jul 2008 10:20 am

Quinnipiac poll shows that the public is more inclined to call the current Supreme Court too conservative than too liberal by a 31-25 margin. The liberal lead follows earlier Quinnipiac results, but they show a declining number of people calling the Court about right. Also the number of people who say they've never heard of John Roberts is on the rise.

So people are forgetting about John Roberts? That must be disconcerting for him.

So people who used to know who John Roberts is have now never heard of him? This seems an implausible result.

A 31% too conservative, 25% too liberal, 33% just right, and 10% unsure result seems about as even a result as you're likely to have. The historical trend shows that just as many people have moved into the "too liberal" camp as "too conservative" so this seems to be more indicative of rising polarization.
