Worried

Via Matt at Think Progress, an awful lot of people are concerned that John McCain will continue Bush's policies. This, clearly, rather than any "move to the center" is the key to Barack Obama's election strategy. Given the substantial edge McCain continues to have over Obama on national security issues, it seems that the main challenge is to get people to see that McCain will, if anything, govern to Bush's right on foreign policy.

I agree, but the purpose of the "move to the center" is to sooth the people out there that might feel that too much change is just too scary to take a chance on.

I mean, you're already asking these people to chose between a warmonger and a black guy. Why spook them out any further?

Definitely a point of concern for conservatives (of which I am one, by the by). But I have to wonder if this poll tells us a lot. After all, you can be concerned that John McCain will pursue such policies without thinking he will. The "very" could be taken to indicate the degree to which the respondent would disagree with such a slant, and not the degree to which they're worried it might happen.

Try to imagine what the numbers would look like if the question were, "Are you concerned that John McCain will bomb Sweden?"
I suspect most would disapprove of boming Sweden, and yet, very few would be concerned that McCain would do so.

I think the respondents know McCain won't bomb Sweden.

I also thing the respondents know McCain WILL bomb Iran.

And I think the majority of the US electorate doesn't want that - at least not while Iraq is still going on. They're probably stupid enough to go along with it once Iraq is over - but not now.

It's very simple, a vote for Senator McCain is a vote for the US bombing Iran. A vote for Senator Osama is a vote for Israel bombing Iran, followed by the US bombing Iran.

SLC actually gets that right.

Not to mention that even if Israel doesn't bomb Iran if Obama wins, Obama will end up bombing Iran because he's too stupid to know Iran is not "a threat" to anybody and has no nuclear weapons program.

So in reference to my earlier post, clearly the electorate is too stupid to figure out that Obama is not the best choice for President either.

But they still know McCain is worse.
